Michaela Stoneman
I think everyone is an artist. We all create things. It all comes down to personal aesthetics and experiences.
I was born and raised in New Plymouth. I left and hit the road for 10 years, checking out other places and making friends. In 2004 Taranaki called me back, and I bought
the old BNZ bank in Patea with my best mate, Kev. I paint, draw, write, garden, restore, party, road-trip. I like to keep pretty busy.
I paint and draw things that are around me - dogs, volcanoes, oceans, fossils, moons, old stuff – and things in my imagination – myths, creatures, dreams, demons, fantasy worlds.
I've studied fine arts and graphic design. I am employed as Arts Coordinator for the South Taranaki District Council – a rewarding and varied role.
I've exhibited my work at Thermostat Gallery, Palmerston North NZ, since 2002.
